Mopar JK-8 Jeep Kit

For those who may not want to wait around on an official release date for the Scrambler, Mopar is currently offering a conversion kit for the Wrangler. This heavy duty kit, that's officially supported by Jeep will turn a Wrangler Unlimited into a pickup, with a 44' x 50' steel bed. It also comes with a removable fiberglass hardtop and a sliding rear window for the cabin. It retails for $5,500 and the website can be found here

Doesn't anyone know how durable/reliable these kinds of kits are? I also doubt that there is much of a payload capacity that comes with it. It's a pretty cool, but I think that money would be better spent on a deposit for the Scrambler!

For $5,500 I may as well go get a few Mopar accessories or a new Warn winch with bumper...That's a insane amount for a model, but I'm sure someone out there is willing to pay for one.

These kinds of kits we're hugely popular in the market years ago, but I think companies like this are going to fall by the wayside with proper production models on the horizon. It is a lot of money to spend, but back in the JK's prime, there weren't any alternatives to consider.

Now with the Scrambler coming out I bet that these JK conversions will see a good drop in price. There's just no way someone can see an after though just a valuable as a now official model. Better to just spend that $5k on leasing a new Scrambler and selling the JK as is.

It may still be popular for two door models, seeing as how Jeep hasn't said anything about a regular cab for the Scrambler. Probably wouldn't be too expensive to get your hands on an older JK and then one of these kits, to make a one of a kind model.
