Jeep’s return to the pickup world is a highly anticipated event for enthusiasts, though the lack of updates may be driving a few of you up the wall. Some were probably hoping that the automaker will reveal something at Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. An event they’ve been going to for years, usually with a few vehicles in tow.
But we’re left disappointed and PickupTrucks
claims “nobody at Jeep would talk much at all about why no pickup concepts made the cut this year.” The closest was the Sandstorm concept, but that’s more of a chopped up Wrangler Unlimited than a real pickup. What they did figure out was that FCA has been shifting Ram and Jeep personnel between the two brands, most likely trying to impart some of what makes each brand unique while keeping to their core values.
One of which is the Wrangler and Ram 1500s propensity for customization, more so this generation with Morpar at the helm providing more than 200 parts for each model. The upcoming Wrangler based pickup could “potentially allow for twice the customization and personality-focused add-on features”, getting its pick of equipment from both the off-road and pickup side.
Customers are sure to spends hours upon hours playing with the configuration page once the Jeep pickup hits dealerships next year, maybe some time in April. Let us know which Mopar components you’d like to see Jeep make available for the upcoming Scrambler.
