1959 Jeep FC150 - Your Jeep Pickup Nostalgia for the Day

Jeep hasn't had a pickup truck out in quite a while, and that is why there is so much built up desire for the next Jeep pickup. Looking at the Jeep pickups of the past is one of the best ways to engage with the brand and build the hype.

Today's historical Jeep pickup is the 1959 Jeep FC150. This cab-over-engine, forward-control pickup is based on the original CJ5. This particular example is restored and was once displayed at the Peterson Automotive Museum. It has an 81-inch wheelbase and a 134-cubic-inch Hurricane F-head engine.

The design from the front almost makes it look like a toy. It certainly lends to Jeep history and fits in with the overall evolution of Jeep styling.

Seen a rendering someone did of a Renegade pickup, would be cool if it actually happened since it could be a really light duty truck, maybe something to act like a successor to this one.

It may look like a toy but it seems to have been built very well. extra wheel perfectly fits into the truck bed gap on the side.

Do I want one? **** yea! Reminds my of those milk delivery trucks.

Too bad there's just about nothing they can pull from this to include in the upcoming wrangler based pick up since the differences in time between both doesn't allow for it, so many things happened from then to now. One of the only ways we might see the both of them together in something is in a video showing Jeeps evolution to now.

I don't think he's saying Jeep will take design cues from the old pickup model, just that they could use it as a way to bring in old jeep enthusiasts who may remember the good old days and lure them into getting the new one.

Also interesting to see how far jeeo has come and yet still retain a bit of their history. Mainly the grille and how they like to maximize the use of space. Room for a spare tire? We'll put one there!

It surely would work well as part of a marketing plan, showing the timeline and history of the upcoming pick up since that's something almost all car makers and brands overall aim to do. Gives the product more weight if you know what I mean.

One group they'll most definitely appeal to are those who already own a jeep of some kind, mainly the wrangler owners. As great as the wrangler is for off roading, it just won't fit that ATV or dirt bike you want to bring along.
