Scrambler Getting A Diesel!!

Someone took a peek at the FCA dealer system and saw a diesel engine option, a 3rd generation 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine. But it comes with engine start-stop...
not sure what the full specs of the engine is or what it will be tuned to crank out.

Anyone who has been looking at developments in the current truck space will see this as an area Jeep couldn't avoid. Ford has a F150 Diesel coming out, Nissan has a Titan diesel, RAM has a 1500 diesel... so with all those diesels in a similar segment.... Jeep has to slot right in somehow.

somewhere I heard that Toyota wants to release a diesel Tacoma which sits right under the Scrambler, if it wasn't for the Scramblers great towing capacity i'd say they're in the same segment, but that's where the JK8's come in. If Toyota releases a Tacoma diesel do you think we will also see a diesel Tundra?

That's pretty much a standard offering with pickups anyways and Jeep can't afford to alienate those buyers. On a high note, the 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel won the 2016 Wards 10 Best Engines award which bodes well for the Scrambler.

That should go a long way in getting Jeep to move these since the regular buyers that just want a new but different Wrangler will be looking for industry approval on that level. Not exactly easy to dig into the details, most people don't know of sources like Allpar.

I agree because often car makers use this stuff in marketing material and having that "social credit" goes a long way, seen consumers react well to it and get that much closer to closing a deal. But wise buyers should still look out for more information.

What does everyone think the output will be for the V6? I don't think the engine has been used in any models yet so we don't have an example.
